Adams had previously managed the Division One side before making the move to be Colin Calderwood's assistant during last season.

He is still held in high regard by everyone at County after leading them to the Scottish Cup Final in 2010, where they lost 3-0 to Dundee United.

During his absence, the Staggies had brought in ex-Aberdeen boss Jimmy Calderwood to try and steady the ship.

However, they have now announced Adams is back in charge at Victoria Park.

County chairman, Roy MacGregor, said: "The past year has been a difficult year for the club, however the club is now delighted to announce that Derek Adams has agreed to return as First Team Manager.

"I would like to personally thank Colin Calderwood and Rod Petrie at Hibernian Football Club for their professionalism and support in making this happen."
