For the first time in history both Rugby and Football in Scotland are without a manager at International level. Scotland has hit rock bottom in both sports.

The football team is now ranked ranked 70th in the world behind such illustrious company as Cape Verde Islands,Sierra Leone,Canada,Iran,Libya and North Korea.

The rugby team fare little better ranked at 12th in the world behind Samoa,Tonga,Italy,Argentina and Spain.

Scotland have failed to qualify for any football tournament of note since 1998 however the rugby team were a couple of points from reaching the rugby world cup final in 1991.

The talent in Scottish Football coming through at grass roots has dried up for some reason and the whole system is in need of reform whereas Scottish Rugby has suffered badly when the game went professional. There are only two professional teams in Scotalnd as opposed to their rivals who have many more.

So far the scottish public have supported both sports with good attendances at Hampden and Murrayfield but confidence is wearing thin and I suspect many empty seats at Hampden/Murrayfield for the forthcoming fixtures.
