LISBON LION Stevie Chalmers has tonight been inducted into Scottish football’s Hall of Fame at a star-studded Hampden bash.

The legendary Celtic striker scored the winning goal against Inter Milan as the Hoops famously became the first British side to lift the European Cup in 1967.

It was the highlight of his 13 seasons at Parkhead where he scored 231 goals and won six league titles, three Scottish Cups and five League Cups as well as being capped five times for Scotland.

Former Celtic boss Neil Lennon presented Chalmers, now 80, with his award at the National Stadium and was joined by fellow inductees Gary McAllister, Alex Smith, Jock Wallace and John Wark.

Football fans nominated nominated Scottish football heroes before a panel of experts whittled the final five to be inducted into the Hall of Fame in recognition of their contribution to the game.

There was also a special tribute to former Rangers and Scotland boss Walter Smith , already in the Hall of Fame, at the gala dinner.
