Greetings From The Dobmeister

Last updated : 29 May 2010 By Queens MAD

Our former 'goal machine' Stephen Dobbie had a double celebration last week-end.

Not only did he help Blackpool to the Premiership with a 3-2 victory over Cardiff City but it was also his wee boy Jack's Christening the following day. So the champagne would certainly be flowing in the Dobbie household.

Said 'Dobbs', "It was only a quick train journey back North of the Border to meet our parents and close friends for a wee celebration as I had to hurry back to Blackpool for the open-top bus tour on the Monday."

But he adds, "To play in front of over 82,000 at Wembley was absolutely magnificent. I was only on for half an hour but I'll never forget the experience. Having featured at Hampden a couple of years ago with Queens, it's now nice to say I've played at both national stadiums now!"

Nevertheless, Stephen himself is still under contract to Swansea City but adds, "I'll just have to wait and see what transpires."

He was grateful to all those former team-mates at Queen of the South for sending him 'good luck' messages prior to the big game and also ones of congratulations afterwards. "Andy Aitken, Jim Lauchlan, Neil MacFarlane, Scott Robertson and Craig Barr all phoned me afterwards while big JT, 'Tosher', 'Jambo' Jamie McDonald, Jamie McQuilken plus a few others were also in touch.

"The Palmerston fans were always good to me and no matter where I play they will always have a special place in my heart. Queens topped the table for a good few weeks last season and finished a creditable fourth, so no matter where I am I'll be keeping an eye on how they're doing and I wish then all the best."
