IAN MAXWELL admits he's no miracle worker after being tasked with getting punters to watch Partick Thistle.... reports the Daily Record

But the Jags general manager hopes charging a tenner for a family day out at Firhill will do the trick.

It's the latest attempt to avert a decline in attendances as the club look to get as many fans through the door for their home game with Livingston this weekend.

For just £10, a parent can take a group of kids to the game and Maxwell believes it's time to think outside the box and get fans back to our stadiums.

He said: "With all the negativity surrounding Scottish football, the Glasgow clubs in particular, we have come up with a fantastic offer to get families back watching football in a friendly, fun environment.

"For our game against Livi on Saturday we are offering the chance for adults to bring two or more kids to the game to get in for £10. It's about getting kids out the house and watching football without any of the baggage that has been surrounding the game recently.

"It's cheaper than going to the cinema and we are convinced the affordability of football is a key reason why grounds have so many empty seats every weekend.

"We want to start a movement geared to getting fans to football for a price they can afford and giving children an experience that will encourage them to come back."

Maxwell has urged would-be Jags to join their campaign to flood Firhill with fans. He said: "All we would ask is that you register at www.ptfc.co.uk.

"The forms received will go into a half-time draw with some amazing prizes up for grabs as well as face painting and giant slides.

"The aim is to put the fun back into football and get kids to Firhill. If you're a member of a local football team, BB company, scout troop, primary or secondary school, girl guides or any other group why not all get together and come along to Firhill on Saturday."

Other SPL/SFL clubs including Queens  will be watching this experiment with interest.
