TAM McMANUS admits he was so rock-bottom he was on the verge of chucking football - until Ayr rescued him from his football hell....reports The Daily Record

The former Hibs and Scotland Under-21 striker will make his debut for Brian Reid's side in tonight's league clash with Partick following six months in the wilderness searching for a new club after leaving Falkirk at the end of last season.

McManus, who has signed until the end of January, said: "I feel like I've been to hell and back. It was demoralising. I just couldn't see a way out.

"I never thought I'd sink so low. All kind of things were running through my head.

"I was training every day on my own and then with Ayr latterly but without a club you think to yourself, 'What's the point?'

"So I'd looked at other avenues such as the police force and some sports-related jobs because I felt my days were numbered.

"That's why I'm just desperate to repay Brian Reid and Ayr. It's an opportunity I'm not going to waste."
