Neil Scally was officially appointed assistant coach at Queen of the South this morning. 'Scal', as he is affectionally known, has made 84 first team appearances since joining from Falkirk in 2006 and was delighted at the news.

"Queens are a good club and we have a great bunch of lads" he said. " I'm looking forward to the challenge".

Queens have also signed Daniel Carmichael from Gretna 2008 on a two year contract. The deal was actually done while Gordon Chisholm was in charge and Daniel will officially become a Queens' player after Gretna's final game of the season tomorrow. A local lad, Daniel was thrilled at the prospect of playing for his 'home town' team.

Gretna boss Stuart Rome praised the speedy forward and stated, "He's been a great player for us--full of committment and enthusiasm. I'm sorry to lose him, but the time's right and he deserves a chance in big time football".

And Kenny Brannigan concluded, "It was a 'done-deal' before I took over! But I've seen him in training and he looks a useful player. He could prove a good acquisition."
