On Form Queens Sink The Bairns

Last updated : 09 February 2014 By Queens MAD

Falkirk lost their place at the top of the Scottish Championship after Gavin Reilly came off the bench to clinch a deserved victory for Queen of the South.

Bob McHugh fired wide from close range as the hosts threatened in the first half and should have been well ahead by the interval over a sluggish looking Bairns side.

Team-mate Michael Paton directed a shot narrowly over after the break but Reilly soon came on to end the impasse as the Doonhamers took control in difficult windy condistions.

The substitute headed in Derek Lyle's cross and then drilled home a left-foot shot for his second.

This was by far Queens best display of the season and turned in a powerful display especially in the second half as they faced a strong wind.

Dundee will not relish a visit to Palmy next week.
