Palmerston Gets A Pre-season Tidy Up

Last updated : 07 July 2008 By Queens MAD

Over 50 volunteers turned out on a damp Saturday to assist the Queens groundsman in tidying up Palmerston in preparation for the new season.

Both stands and terracing were swept and cleaned with the running track also weeded. Several bags of rubbish were collected in and around Palmerston with skip facilities kindly provided by Okabank. A start was also made on strimming the back of the Portland Road Terracing. It's hoped to complete all work during the forthcoming week.

An excellent snack lunch was also supplied by Isla with Kevin the groundsman and Queen's Secretary Eric making all the volunteers welcome. This was an excellent example of a Community Football Club at work. I doubt if many clubs in Scotland could expect over 50 volunteers to turn up on a dreary Saturday morning.

WELL DONE TO ALL
