CHRISTINE FINDLATER IN HOT SEAT

It has been announced that Christine Findlater has been appointed Queen's fans liaison officer in a surprise move by the board. Christine has been conducting a variety of volunteer roles in recent years at the club and was at one time an active member of the Queens Trust. She is a local woman, a mother and a keen horse woman.

Christine's appointment will appear to some as a surprise to some fans and there has been an active reaction by some fans on social media.

Some would have preferred someone independent from the club and nominated by the fans.

Some also gave her their support and hoped she would not be afraid to upset the apple cart in some cases.

Another punter stated that the liaison is coming out of the  boardroom not into it as most supporters have been asking for.

One supporter even stated there are several Queen's supporter stalwarts who command more respect and be more suitable for the job.

Queens Mad view is although it is not an ideal appointment we must give Christine and a chance to see what she can do and must be given full support by us all.

Christine has been in touch with Queens Mad  -  I know there has been negative posts about me taking the post but I promise to do everything I can to build bridges and help the club move forward in the right direction. Happy New Year!!

She has also been in touch on Facebook and has this message for the fans - I can assure you that I will be doing this job in the best interest of the supporter as well as the club. A meeting will be arranged in January for all supporter clubs to attend and hopefully monthly thereafter. We have a great club and if we all pull together we can have an even better club!!

Commenting on the appointment, Christine said "I'm really excited about the role. I've already started to do some back ground work and I hope to meet as many groups as possible.  I want to build up the relationship between the Club and the supporters groups.  So I will be spending as much time as possible speaking to the fans as well as the liaison officers at other clubs to gain as much information as possible."

Speaking on behalf of the Board, Mark Blount added "We have been accused in the past of not communicating well enough with the supporters, so hopefully Christine's appointment will bridge the gap. It's important that the fans have a single point of contact and Christine is now that. She has already built up contacts in the fan network within her work with the club lottery, dealing with the Mascots and half time entertainment on match days as well as being the end of season awards co-ordinator. She was also Chair Person of Paul Burns Testimonial Committee."

"Christine has already came up with new ideas and looks forward to implementing them in the New Year. We hope the fans and supporters clubs embrace the appointment and we look forward to meeting with all to improve communication."
