Queens Can Go All The Way

TOM TAIWO put a spanner in Rangers' promotions hopes at the weekend and admits he is hell bent on doing exactly the same to Hibs this Saturday.

However, the Falkirk midfielder is not expecting either of the Championship big guns to be going up via the play-offs this season.

Rangers had the perfect opportunity to put themselves in the box seat to finish second behind runaway title winners Hearts.

Victory against the Scottish Cup finalist would have guaranteed the chance to secure the runners-up spot - and therefore avoid an additional two play-off games - was in their own hands.

But, if Hibs win at Falkirk this weekend then Stuart McCall’s men will have to win three consecutive two-legged matches if they are to be playing Championship football next term.

Taiwo, who believes Queen of the South represent the division’s best hope of plying their trade in the top flight next term, can’t see them pulling it off.

He said: “It’s a tough one but maybe Queens could go all the way. There’s a lot of pressure on Rangers and Hibs and Queens can play with a freedom.

“They won at Ibrox and at Easter Road. They make their place a fortress and then they are not afraid to go away and come to places like Ibrox.

“They will be a real force to be reckoned with. It’s hard to deal with the pressure and the expectancy for Rangers and Hibs.
