Queen's legend JIM Thomson has vowed to bring fresh ideas to the role of commercial manager.... reports the Dumfries and Galloway Standard

The Queens icon has been handed the new position and will be working with his wife Victoria and a member of the board.

And he can’t wait for the new challenge.

He said: “I am determined to make this a success and I will be giving all the time I have available to making sure it works. I will be putting 100 per cent into it, as I do with everything.

“I certainly don’t want to fail. I have a number of ideas that I think will make a difference and I’m looking forward to implementing them.”

He added: “Things haven’t been good at the club in the last year. There has been a lot of negativity. And when you have spent as long at the club as I have, it really hurts.

“But I’m really pleased to see the club progressing now, and being more forward-thinking, and I want to be a part of that.”

Thomson has been working in a community role, visiting schools and running summer football for youngsters.

The role has been funded by The Holywood Trust, and Thomson has vowed to continue that work tirelessly.

He said: “It certainly keeps me busy, and I certainly won’t be letting anything get in the way of what I do with the schools. But I believe I can do both jobs well, and look forward to the challenge.”

Queens Mad wish Jim and Victoria every success.
