Queen of the South are poised to reveal whether 33-year-old caretaker James Fowler has done enough to be named as manager on a permanent basis.

The Scottish Championship club have called a Tuesday lunchtime media conference where the new manager will be available for interview.

Rumour has it that there were 30 serious applicants for the position.

Fowler has been standing in since Jim McIntyre succeeded Derek Adams as Ross County manager earlier this month.

The Doonhamers have won one, drawn one and lost one of their matches since.

A 1-1 draw away to Falkirk was followed by a 1-0 victory at home to Hibernian then a 2-1 loss at Cowdenbeath, all in the league.

That left the Dumfries side sitting fourth in the Championship table, eight points behind leaders Hearts.
