Queen of the South striker suffers postponement blow

The postponement of last night’s SFL Reserve between Queen of the South and Rangers at Palmerston Park due to the frozen conditions could cost Doonhamer striker Kevin Smith a come-back against Alloa this weekend.

The former Dundee United, Raith Rovers and Notts County front-man has been limited to just one substitute appearance this season due to a groin problem and after stepping up training recently he was due to play against the Ibrox second string to get in some much needed practice.

Manager Allan Johnston said, “I had hoped to give Kevin a run out for an hour in the reserves to get him ready for Alloa. Unfortunately that has not happened so I may need to consider him again for this weekend.”

Queens otherwise hav a full squad to choose from whilst Alloa may lose their on-loan duo of Low and Megginson who may be re-called to their injury hit Aberdeen side.
