At the Annual Queens AGM in the Nith Hotel,Glencaple tonight shareholders voted by 102 votes to 52 not to to support a motion to elect a representative of the Queens Trust as a director.

A large turnout of 90 shareholders heard a passionate address by former Queen's chairman Norman Blount on his opposition to such a motion.

Louise Currie of the Queens Trust read out a prepared statement supporting the motion.

Gary Naysmith the Queen's manager also faced questions from the floor and impressed everyone with his honesty and thorough knowledge of the game.

There was also a presentation by a gentleman whose name escapes me on the QOS World of Sport outlining Palmerston and the Arena as a hub of sporting and commercial activity in Dumfries. The scheme is in an early planning stage but a press statement will be issued shortly.
