RAITH ROVERS manager John McGlynn yesterday released 15 players as the harsh financial realities of his side's failure to win SPL promotion hit home.

In-demand striker Gregory Tade and defender Mark Campbell head the freed list.

McGlynn said: "Telling players they no longer have a future at your club is the worst job a manager has to do.

"The older guys have families and mortgages and so on and it's not easy but it's about the club making ends meet.

"The numbers coming through the gates are not enough to continue with a certain level of finance."

Meanwhile newly promoted Dunfermline have 17 players out of contract, with Livingston and Falkirk giving free transfers to seven players each.
