In 2008 Queens of the South proudly represented Scotalnd in Europe for the first time and played a memorable match against FC Nordisjaelland at Farum on the outskirts of Copenhagen.

Unfortunately Queens lost the tie 2-1 despite taking an early lead through Bob Harris however it was a momentous occassion for the 850 Queens fans that travelled.

Last month a group of Queen's supporters returned to Copenhagen and managed to visit Farum where thay were given warm welcome by the Danes.

They also paid a visit to the Famous Dubliner Pub which served as a rendezvous for the Queen's support.

To celebrate his 18th birthday Queen's fan Mathew Williams returned to Copenhagen recently with some of his companion Doonhamers - this is his story.

I recently celebrated my 18Th birthday with a return visit to Nordsjaelland's ground in Farum. Prior to my journey I was given some Queen of the South merchandise,by Jim Thomson,to give to the club, but in particular Christian Wolny, whom i have kept in touch with since the unfortunate incident regarding one of their players losing his leg when he got struck by lightning.

We flew out to Denmark on the Friday morning and were invited to the ground by Christian when they returned home from Portugal(they played Sporting Lisbon in the Europa League, narrowly losing 2-1 on aggregate)

After watching the players training for 10-15 minutes,we were given a guided tour by Christian, who still talks about Jim Thomson and Queens with great affection, going behind the goals which wee Bob scored into and even allowing us down the tunnel and into the dressing rooms, where we met the current manager (the assistant to Morten Weighorst when Queens played them). They were most hospitable and were keen to play us again sometime in the future. We purchased a few items from the club shop and also were given a signed shirt by the team, which is now framed and ready to be be displayed in the upstairs lounge at Palmerston.

Not much had changed in the Dubliner, apart from the fact there was about a couple of hundered less Queens fans and the entertainment wasnt as rowdy as the night's the Queens fans were there.

All in all a good weekend was had by all that travelled to Copenhagen...
