Season kicks off with cup-tie

Although Albion Rovers are two divisions below us Kenny Brannigan will be treating them with the utmost respect in Saturday`s Alba Cup tie. Said the manager, "There`s always shock results in the cup and we must guard against any mishaps. That`s the rules! .... reports Queen's Official Website.

"They`ve nothing to lose but all to gain and cup games can often prove great levellers. But I want Queen of the South to be the side that wins through to the next round. We have the better quality players but we`ll be taking nothing for granted.

"With so many fixtures I never got to watch Rovers myself, but `Ches` has furnished me with a detailed dossier to study.

"We`re still struggling with injuries but with Lee Robinson and Alex Mitchell now onboard for cover it eases our keeper crisis with both David Hutton and Roddy McKenzie still sidelined.

"Rocco Quinn trained with the squad on Thursday, so I`m hopeful he`ll be fit for Saturday but David Lilley and big Sean will miss out."
