DOONHAMERS OPTIMISTIC OF SUCCESS AT LIVI

The big kick-off has arrived at last and Queen's manager Ian McCall is optimistic that we can hold our own in Division one despite our part-time status. We have once again been handed a tough opening round of fixtures and we don't need to be reminded of what happened at the start of last season. I think we are better prepared this season although losing Andy Aitken for at least six months is a major blow. Ian McCall has informed Derek Lyle that he is free to join another club which may free up wages for a
Michale Mullen
replacement for Aitken. Lyle is still a favourite amongst Queens fans and most of us hope he will get fixed up soon. Saturday's fixture against relegated Livingston will be tough going for the Doonhamers but if O'Neill,Thomson and Mullen keep up their good pre-season scoring form we can at least get a draw. Our magnficent travelling support will of course play a part and with an expected 400+ it should be a lively atmosphere at Almondvale.

Recent respective form guides

Livingston's home form is poor, winning just 2 of the last six, and losing the other 4. The Livi's have scored 7 goals in these games, but conceded an alarming 9.

Queen o.t.S.'s away form is none too clever either, with two wins, two draws, and two defeats. A generous 8 goals have been both scored and conceded in this period.
