History of the Airdrie United v Queen of the South fixture

Queen o.t.S. face a trip to Airdrie United at Shyberry Excelsior Stadium on Monday evening, needing to turn around their fortunes at the ground. The The Doonhamers will be hoping to improve upon a record which has seen them lose 22 and win only 10 of the 43 games.

The most recent encounter between these two sides was earlier this season, as they swept to an impressive 4 - 0 win in a Scottish F.A. Cup match.

Airdrie United have been playing quite well at home, winning 3, drawing 2, and losing just 1. The The Diamonds have scored 10 and conceded 3 during this period.

The away form of Queen o.t.S. is pretty dire, attaining just 3 draws from the previous six away games. While the The Doonhamers have hit 7 goals, 14 have hit the back of the wrong net.

Airdrie Utd. find themselves stuck right at the bottom of the division. Their 29 games have yielded only 22 points. Queen o.t.S.'s 45 points from 30 games sees them lie inside the top half of the table, in 5th position.

FootyMad's prediction ...

FootyMad see this game edging towards a narrow win for the The Diamonds, as the The Doonhamers have been none too clever on the road in recent matches. Home win

Sequence statistics:
Airdrie Utd.Won 3 successive home games.
4 games since last home draw.
Not drawn a match in their last 5 .
Queen o.t.S.Previous 3 away games have finished all-square.
Not won in previous 7 away matches.
No win in the 3 most recent games.

From the OS Queens's manager Kenny Brannigan quotes :

"On our last visit to the Excelsior Stadium they thumped us 4-0 in the Scottish Cup, so it won't be easy!

"In out last couple of games we've ended up with only 10 men on the park which makes it difficult. We'll have to get our discipline sorted out! To be fair to Jordan at Ross County, I felt a 'red card' was a harsh-- but wee Bobby's tackle yesterday was just stupid.

"Fixtures are now coming thick and fast in a frantic end to the season but Kenny still feels we could make the top four". And he stressed, "It certainly won't be for lack of effort--we'll give it our 'best shot!"

We've still six games to go and three of those are at home. We've only lost four league matches at Palmerston this season--two of those were against our jinx side Morton and the other two against third placed Dunfermline and league leaders Caley Thistle yesterday.

So it's not exactly 'Mission Impossible' with 18 points still at stake!

Team News: David Lilley and Jordan McMillan return from suspension but Bobby Harris will miss out owing to that red card. Injured are Jamie Adams and Craig Reid who has bruised ribs.

Queens MAD predition

Queens were rather unlucky against Inverness on Saturday and I expect them to bounce back against Airdrie and with the return of Lilley,McMillan and hopefully Adams they can perhaps record a narrow win.
