QUEENS FACE THE PLASTIC CHALLENGE OF NEW DOUGLAS PARK

Last updated : 12 November 2004 By Footymad Previewer

BRAIN REID - DOUBTFUL
Queens head into uncharted territory tomorrow when they take on Hamilton at New Douglas Park with their infamous plastic pitch. Queens trained on it during the week and surprisingly some of the younger players particularly Willie Gibson liked the surface. Some of the players did report a few bumps and bruises. It will be interesting to see how Queens cope with the surface and for many supporters including myself it will be our first view of the surface. Queens have a few injury niggles with Craig and Reid both doubtful. Wood also has a kneck injury which may rule him out so Queens may be a bit stretched at the back. Difficult to predict this one but with Queens in such good form away from home the worst we can expect is a draw. A Border TV team are reported to be travelling with the fans on the Travel Club buses so let's give them our full repertoire of songs.

History of the Hamilton Academical v Queen of the South fixture

Queen o.t.S. pack their bags to visit Hamilton Academical at New Douglas Park on Saturday evening, hoping to improve upon an average previous return from this fixture. Of the 38 games played, The Doonhamers have recorded 13 wins, and Hamilton Ac. have come away with 14 victories.

The previous match played between the two at New Douglas Park was within the last three years, in March 2002, with Hamilton Ac. running out comfortable 3 - 1 winners in a Scottish Division Two match.

Recent respective form guides

Hamilton Academical's disastrous home run has meant they have managed only 2 draws from the last six matches. While Accies have scored 4, a worringly large 8 have been leaked at the other end.

Queen o.t.S.'s away form is none too clever either, winning and losing 3 each of the last six games. While the The Doonhamers have hit 5 goals, 8 have hit the back of the wrong net.

Hamilton Ac. are stuck down in the relegation zone of Bells Scottish Division One with a return of just 11 points from their 13 games thus far. Queen o.t.S.'s 19 points from 13 games sees them lie inside the top half of the table, in 4th position.
