QUEENS HEAD FOR POTENTIAL BANANA SKIN GAME AT CAPPIELOW

Last updated : 15 May 2002 By Duke Of Galloway
Queens should be on their guard as they head for the tail of the bank for a tough fixture against the mighty TON who are fighting for their 2nd division lives in the lower reaches of the division. Reports are that the Cappielow pitch is in a poor state which will compound Queens task. Queens must approach this match with a positive manner and Morton will be no pushovers but we have the men that can hurt them in Weatherson and Lyle who will find a lot more space than was granted them against a stuffy Berwck defence on Saturday. Morton will be lifted after their share of the points against Cowdenbeath at the weekend when new signing Philip Cannie was on the score sheet. If they get an early score and the crowd get behind them they will be a difficult side to beat. Dave McPherson and Warren Hawke will be no strangers to the Palmy faithful, both being scorers against us in that infamous 6-5 game earlier in the season. Queens will give a late fitness test to Scott and Atkinson before deciding on their lineup. I predict a close game with Queens shading it. Probable Queens lineup:

Dawson
 Gray Thomson Aitken Crawford
Connolly O'Neill Connell Mc Alpine
Lyle Weatherson
