Pivotal promotion match preview

Without doubt the most important game of the season so far for Queen of the South when they take on a host of ex-international players at Cappielow. In general, Queens have faired well against Clydebank who have been in the top-two for most of the season. Winning both games at Palmerston with late winners from Paddy Atkinson and Peter Weatherson. However, the last time we played Clydebank at Cappielow was a totally different story when Queens were down 3-0 after 45 minutes, without doubt the worst first-half performance this season by the South.

Clydebank will have the advantage of not playing last tuesday night unlike the Queens players who might fatigue faster after a heavy pitch at Palmerston against Morton.

Injury News: Paddy Atkinson picked up a knock at half-time on tuesday so would'nt be surprised if he was rested this saturday. John O'Neill was missing on tuesday with the bug that seems to be sweeping through the Palmserton ranks at the moment. I am pretty sure he will be back for this saturday as it is such an important game. As for George O'Boyle, who was also missing through a hamstring injury...will probably not start as the Weatherson-Lyle Partnership seemed good against Morton but if fit will take a place on the bench. Joe McAlpine seemed to slightly tweak his hamstring too.

Probable Queens Line-up

Scott

Gray Thomson Aitken Anderson

Moore O'Neill Bowey Connelly

Weatherson Lyle

With Atkinson injured ive decided to go for Anderson at Left-back.
McAlpine will probably be rested or injured so Allan Moore will go over to he right with Gordon Connelly coming over to the left like he did against Berwick.

Russj's prediction: 2-2 with a John O'Neill penalty and also a goal from Derek Lyle. (Presuming the game is on of coarse).
