Paul Burns signed a two year extension to his existing contract this afternoon which binds him to the club until the summer of 2010. The 23-year-old midfielder, who hails from Cumnock, graduated to the senior ranks via our youth system, and made his 100th first team appearance only a few weeks ago.

Said manager, Gordon Chisholm, "Burnsy has been with us now since 2002 so I'm pleased to get him signed up again for another couple of years. He's been out recently with ankle trouble but I was glad to see him back again for the Peterhead cup-tie. He was one of our best players and grabbed a goal into the bargain. He came up through the club's youth system and I feel that developing our own players is now the way forward to ensure a successful future for Queen of the South".

Added Paul himself, "I'm just delighted to get it all signed and sealed and it will ensure me another two and a half years at Palmerston. I was glad to get back into action again on Saturday and an extra bonus was scoring a goal. I'm proud to be affiliated to such a good club! We've a good set of lads and the atmosphere in the dressing-room is as good as I've seen it".
