IS DEREK LYLE THE NEW ANDY THOMSON ?

Since arriving at Palmy from Partick Thistle on loan, 21 year old Derek Lyle has been an instant hit with the Queens fans and many including myself think we have a new Andy Thomson in the making. He was a prolific scorer with Thistle under 18's and made a quick step up to the first team squad where initially he was used in midfield. He turned in many useful performances for Thistle last season in this role but was eventually frozen out by Thistle boss John Lambie as he drafted in more experienced players for his drive to the premier league.
Lyles partnership with Weatherson is beginning to blossom and if Queens aim to step up a level then we must in my opinion try and sign him. His contract with Thistle is up in May and he may be available for free, a situation cash-strapped Thistle will try and avoid. The only snag is that he is full-time and I doubt if he would come to Palmy on a part-time contract, much as he enjoys life here.

Meanwhile we have him for another month so lets enjoy his contribution to our promotion bid and hope somehow we can get him into a blue jersey for next season.
