1HONOURS EVEN AS QUEENS GRIND OUT A GOALESS DRAW

BOWEY-TERRIER IN MIDFIELD
This was a dour struggle which neither side looked like winning and not much fun for the fans on a cold bitter night. The Highlanders settled early and their crisp passing had the Queens defence under some early pressure but as usual Thomo and his mates were giving absolutely nothing away and most of the attacks broke down at the edge of the penalty area. Chances were few on both sides but Inverness had a great chance when Ritchie found himself in the clear right in front of goal. The striker somehow scuffed his shot on to the post with Scott well beaten much to the relief of the home support. The only other incident of note in a quite frankly poor first half was when Weatherson was unlucky to be robbed when about to pull the trigger. At no stage in the game so far did Caley look promotion material and Queens matched them in every department.

Half-Time Queens 0 Caley 0

Inverness started well and were obviously out for the win as they pushed men forward. However Queens were in no mood to concede anything and with Bowey and Mc Colligan fighting like tigers in midfield, Inverness were always vulnerable to the counter attack. Scott was looking very secure at the back and made a series of wonderful saves especially a piledriver of a free-kick from Hart. Queens best chance fell to Weatherson whose volley just cleared the bar. Queens confidently held back everything that the Highlanders could throw at them and brought on O'Connor to add spice to the final few minutes. The game fizzled out quietly and Queens were more than happy with the draw. Inverness on the other hand will be disappointed as their last chance of promotion has surely gone. Although not creating very much Queens looked a compact unit and are certaintities to remain in the division for another term. Our only concern is that we did not make many chances against a big powerful well drilled Inverness side. How on earth they lost five goals against Ross County recently is beyond me. Anyway another home match on Saturday and St Mirren should be a slightly easier proposition than Caley so here's hoping for a few goals.
