Battling Queens Held By The Jags

A battling display by Queens was checked by Partick Thistle in a cracking match at Palmerston Park.

The Doonhamers made all the early running and Dobbie drilled home a goal on 10 minutes.

However the Queens momentum was halted as Doolan equalised before the interval when he headed in a Gary Harkins free kick.

Harris twice was thwarted by the Tuffey in the Thistle goal as Queens tried to regain the lead before the interval. The first half ended all square but it had been a heartening Queens display with Scally outstanding after his long absence through injury.

There was still work to be done for Queens as Thistle to their credit made a fight of it. It had turned into a tremendous battle and Stevie Tosh gave Queens hope as he converted a penalty in 55 minutes after Bob Harris had been felled .

The Doonhamers had a great chance to kill off Thistle and secure the points when Dobbie was clean through on goal but Tuffey pulled off a tremendous block and the chance was lost.

Queens were made to pay for that miss as Jags substitute Scott Chaplain volleyed home late on to grab an equaliser.

Queens pressed for an winner in the closing minutes and Tuffey pulled off some tremendous saves as the Jags held out for a share of the spoils.

I thought Queens were desperately unlucky not to pick up the three points as they turned in a much improved performance and if they continue this form then hopefully they will pull clear of relegation.

Queens MAD man of the Match - Neil Scally - He turned in a tremendous performance on his return from injury and was unlucky to see his header saved in the dying minutes.
