PATON TORMENTS THE BAIRNS
Queens bounced back from their disappointment on Wednesday to beat Falkirk at Ochilview with a superb display. They dominated the first half and then sat in an soaked up everything the Bairns could throw at them in the second period. Queens took the field with a changed formation which excluded Thomson,Jaconelli and Wood however there was a bonus with the surprise appearance of favourite O'Connor up front along with Burke. Queens had a solid look about them as they dominated the early exchanges. They took the lead with a sublime lob from the educated boot of Burke in the 10 minutes much to the delight of the travelling support who were huddled in the temporary enclosure trying to avoid the steady drizzle. Queens were well in control and the Falkirk defence were really struggling with Bowey surging forward at every opportunity. There were several near things before Bowey tore Falkirk apart on 23 minutes to lay back the ball for Burke to bury past Hill in the Falkirk goal. Queens were now in cruise control and Falkirk were almost dead and buried as the Bairns keeper somehow got his hands to a Bowey header that was heading for the top corner. Falkikrk at this stage could just couldn't get going and their danger man Laperty was being marked out of the game. Queens were well worth their interval lead as the visiting support headed off to sample the Ochilview culinary delights.

Half-time Falkirk 0 Queens 2

The Bairns came out in a determined mood and pushed up Laperty in an attempt to unsettle Queens but Reid had his troops well organsed and soaked up anything that the home side had to offer. Nevertheless Queens goalie Samson had to be called to be on his guard to save several efforts including a superb header from Lee as the eager Falkirk forwards surged forward desperate to salvage something from the game. Queens as always were very dangerous on the break and O'Connor drove over from a good position. In the last quarter the Bairns put Queens under a lot of pressure and forced several corners but the Doonhamers were in no mood to surrender their lead and held out for a famous victory. Queens didn't have a failure with the back four of Paton,Allen,Reid and Aitken in superb form. Bowey and Bagan were immense with O'Connor along with Burke leading the Falkirk defence a merry dance. The difference today from the Clyde game was that we were solid at the back, made no errors and we took our chances. We can look forward to our visit to Kirkcaldy next week with confidence.
