Clyde Dump Sad Queens

Last updated : 24 November 2008 By Queens MAD

Struggling Clyde lifted themselves off the bottom of Division One with a surprise but deserved victory away to a static Queens side thanks to Patrick Clarke's brace.

Out of sorts Queens however started brightly and Clyde goalkeeper Hutton pushed away a shot from Queens' Paul Burns. However the home defence was looking very fragile as McLaren hit the woodwork.

The youthful Clyde side were fighting for everything and a jaded looking Queens were extremely lucky not to concede before half-time.

Queens struggled to make some impression on the game but seemed unable to contain the visitors and the writing was on the wall when Higgins beat his man before cutting the ball into the path of Clarke to slam home after 55 minutes in front of a strangely subdued Palmy crowd.

The Doonhamers tried in vain hard to break down the resolute Bully Wee defence but the game was over when Clarke smashed in his second from close range after 83 minutes which triggered a max exodus of home fans.

This was another huge disappointment for the Queens fans as their team failed to overcome a Clyde team which fought for everything. Their will be much soul searching in the next fortnight by Queens manager Gordon Chisolm as his team seems to be in free fall towards the relegation zone.

Queens MAD man of the match - Hard call this one but Dobbie tried his best.
