Doonhamers dominate as Forfar flounder

Runaway Irn-Bru Second Division leaders Queen of the South stormed to their seventh consecutive victory, 3-1 over Forfar, stretching their lead at the summit to 19 points.

The Doonhamers took an 11th-minute lead when Nicholas Clark headed Christopher Mitchell's corner back across goal for Ryan McGuffie to finish.

Forfar levelled moments later as Iain Campbell played the ball goalwards for Christopher Templeman to slot home from close range.

Derek Lyle restored the hosts' advantage in the in the 19th minute, planting Mitchell's free-kick past Jack Hamilton in the Forfar goal.

Templeman headed over from six yards before the half hour but a second equaliser was not forthcoming.

Clark sealed the points for Queen of the South when he clinically converted Lyle's cross with 20 minutes remaining.

The band of Queen's supporters from Shrewsbury did make the match after battling through the snow and were rewarded with a handsome Queens win.
