Halloween Table Toppers

Queen of the South returned to the top of the Scottish First Division with a deserved victory at home over Ross County.

County won the toss and made Queens kick into the Portland End and the Doonhamers dictated the early exchanges. The visitors were proving a big physical handful however Burns gave Queens the lead in spectacular style as he beat McGovern from 20 yards to send Palmy into raptures on 26 minutes.

The Doonhamers were in full flow and it was no surprise that minutes before the break Queens doubled their advantage when a sweeping move was finished off by Stewart Kean.

County applied more pressure in the second period using three attackers, but Queens with Lilley outstanding held firm for the points and but for a fine display by the visitors goalie McGovern the margin of victory would have been much greater.

An impressive display by Queens who can now head to Somerset Park next week in a confident mood.

Queens MAD man of the Match - Lilley was outstanding but Burns gets our vote - he simply ran his heart out.
