Kean Goal Dumps The Jags

Stewart Kean's goal helped Queen of the South leapfrog Partick Thistle in the First Division table and close the gap on league leaders Dundee.

The Doonhamers almost took the lead in the opening minutes when a Weatherston effort was superbly turned away by the Thistle keeper Tuffey.

The match remained goalless until 54 minutes when a Bob Harris cross was headed in by Kean to give Queens the lead after the Thistle defence fell for a quickly taken corner.

Thistle almost equalised when Alan Archibald headed a corner over and Martyn Corrigan's right-footed shot rattled the Queens bar in injury time.

But Queens held on for the three points and kept their title hopes alive.

Queens MAD man of the match - McMillan had a superb came at right back for the Doonhamers.
