Late Strike By Holmes Saves Queens

Derek Holmes scored a last-minute equaliser for Queens in a tousy encounter against newly promoted Raith at Palmerston.

The Doonhamers looked in control until they were reduced to ten men when the referee red carded Tosh after a bizarre off the ball incident involving Simmons of Raith.

Rovers took full advantage and scored on the stroke of half-time when Allan Walker slammed Gregory Tade's neat pass into the net.

Ten men Queens pressed hard in the second half for an equaliser and on 55 minutes, Rovers' Mark Campbell was red-carded for fouling Rocco Quinn, before Holmes scored from close range in the closing minute.

Barry Wilson had a wonderful chance to grab a win for Queens in injury time but delayed his shot and the chance was loss.

Queens were perhaps rather fortunate to gain a point but were not helped by a very poor referee who at times lost complete control of the match.

Queens MAD Man of the match - Craig Reid - His form has been a revelation this season.
