Livi Grab Win As Chisolm Is Sent To The Stand

Livingston secured a controversial win over Queen of the South in a close encounter at Almondvale.

Leigh Griffiths scored from close-range in the 85th minute, with the visitors' defence appealing for offside against Robert Snodgrass.

Referee Euan Norris gave the goal after consulting with his assistant. Queens manager Gordon Chisholm was sent to the stands for his protests.

Paul Burns was sent off late on to compound the Doonhamers' agony.

Queens should have taken the lead on the half-hour mark when a slack backpass from Craig James left Colin Stewart exposed but James McPake cleared John Stewart's effort off the line.

Mark Tinkler almost grabbed his first goal since coming back from injury early in the second half but this toe-poke from a James cross flash just wide.

Griffiths bundled the ball into the net in the 71st minute but was adjudged to be offside.

After Griffiths' strike, Queens were reduced to 10 men in the final minute when Burns was sent off for a poor challenge on Snodgrass.

In all a very disappointing evening for Queens with not only Burns being sent off but manager Chisolm also sampling the red mist. Not the ideal preparation for the semi-final with Aberdeen.
