First-half goals secure victory for St Mirren against Queen of the SouthFirst-half goals from Sean Kelly and Steven Thompson gave St Mirren their first win of the Ladbrokes Scottish Championship season as they beat Queen of the South 2-0.The visitors took the lead after just seven minutes when Kelly was the quickest to react after Thompson headed Stephen Mallan's corner into the six-yard box.Thompson squandered a chance from six yards before doubling Ian Murray's side's lead after 29 minutes, out-muscling his marker after Jim Goodwin's long ball forward before coolly beating Robbie Thomson.Andrew Dowie nearly pulled one back for the hosts as his glancing header went just past the post and Thomson saved well to deny Calum Gallagher in the second half

Owen Moxon came close to grabbing a late consolation goal for the Doonhammers in stoppage time, but the Saints preserved their clean sheet
