QUEEN OF THE SOUTH 1 ROSS COUNTY 1

Not for the first time this season,Queens let slip a game which was theirs for the taking and they have only themselves to blame for allowing a lack lustre Ross County sneak a draw with a late equalsier. Queens started off well and dominated proceedings with Bowey putting them ahead on 8 minutes, cleverly lobbing the ball over the keeper after Paton had set him up. Queens went out for more goals but they lacked punch in front of goal with Jaconelli and Burke ineffective. Ross County looked a pretty ordinary side and rarely troubled Queens back four. After a pretty dour first half Queens looked the more likely side to get the vital second goal and kill off their opponents.

Half-Time Queens 1 Ross County 0

County came out fighting in the second half but although they had a lot of the ball they created very little against a Queens defence superby organised by Reid. Queens were very dangerous on the break and had several chances to finish off their opponents but they just could not get the vital goal, Jaconelli and Burns were the main culprits both missing glorious chances. It was very frustrating for the Palmy who tried their best to lift their team. As the game approached its final stages it looked like Queens might hang on for the three pointswhen surprisingly County scored on 82 minutes when a shot by Mc Garry trundled off the inside of the post ran along the line and sneaked in at the far post much to the disappointment of Samson in the Queens goal. Queens were shocked and they desperately pushed up in the dying minutes for a winner but it was not to be. In actual fact this was one of the poorest games at Palmy this season and both teams looked jaded with only Bowey and Reid in the Queens team really up for it. Ross County were very a ordinary indeed and only recorded two shots at goal the whole game and some of their tackling can only be decribed as agricultural. The atmosphere was also very flat with the very small away support not helping much. Clyde are the visitors during the week and if we are to stand any chance we really must put our chances away but with O'Connor injured we will be up against it as Jaconelli and Burke were very ordinary. I would expect Wood to be on from the start against Clyde with hopefully O'Connor back from injury.
