A five star display by Queens Brian Mclauglan helped The Doonhamers to a comfortable victory over neighbours Annan Athletic at Gala Bank last night. A large Queens following from Dumfries enjoyed an entertaining if rather one-sided encounter on a glorious summer evening. John O'neill put Queens ahead on 15 minutes, heading home a glorious cross from the lively Payne. It was mostly one way traffic after this with home goalie doing well to keep the score down. Robertson put Queens two up on 22 minutes and O'Neill scored his second on 35 minutes as Queens hit the cruise control. With the home side in complete disarray McLaughlan hammered home Queens fourth on 40 minutes. The Queens fans were more than satisfied with a four goal lead at the interval.

Queens took the pedal of the gas in the second half and it also gave then an opportunity to give some of the players on the bench a run. McNiven,English, Lyle and McColligan were all given a run. Queens continued to dominate the game and missed a barrowload of chances before a clever McLaughlan lob increased the goal haul to five. It was aan emphatic victory for Queens but let's not get carried away as the oppostion wasn't that great. The squad however looks in great shape with McLaughlan and O'Neill really in the mood. Brian Reid is approaching full fitness and he was given tremendous support from Carr and Wood. It's the Hibs next Saturday at Palmy and on this form Queens should put up a good show.
