QUEENS FIND IT HEAVY GOING AGAINST THE CLEYHOLERS

Queens looked far from convincing against a stuffy Stranraer team who made a right game of it especially in the closing stages. Queens looked in control for most of the match but lack of punch in front of goal nearly cost them dearly. With the exception of Paul Burns the midfield made heavy weather of it and McCall will have to come up with some answers soon or else we will continue to struggle. It was only a face-saving penalty by O'Neill in the 52nd miknute that saved the day after Weir had been bundled in the box. Stranraer bombarded the Queens goal in the final stages but thanks to some safe handling by Scott and poor finishing the Doonhamers scraped home. If you compare the shock results elsewhere this looked a reasonable win but don't let's kid ourselves if we perform like this at Airdrie on Saturday we will be isolated at the bottom of the league.

THE DUKE'S VERDICT - To be quite frank this was a poor Queens performance and manager McCall has a lot of work to do if we are to survive in Division 1 this season.

DUKE'S MAN OF THE MATCH - Paul Burns without a doubt. He was the most outstanding player on the pitch. His dstribution of the ball was excellent and his tackling back in defence was a feature of a poor match.
