Wood - First League Goal
ueens crashed to defeat at Broadwood and lost their top of the league status to Falkirk. The Doonhamers suffered a blow on 7 minutes when their goalkeeper Scott was stretchered off and Dodds had to take over in goal. Queens were already without their influential defender Thomson who was suspended so this further blow did them no favours whatsoever. Dodds was quickly in action and had to make several saves to keep Clyde out. At the other end Burke came close when his shot shaved the post. The Doonhamers made the breakthrough in first-half injury time when Wood scored his first league goal for his club when he turned in a Burke pass.

Half-Time Clyde 0 Queens 1

A disastrous 7 minute spell after half-time turned this game round in Clyde's favour. Smith scored in 53 minutes with an overhead kick followed by another counter by Hartry on 56 minutes.Queens looked shell-shocked as Smith got his second on 60 minutes. The game was now over and Clyde were content to sit back and play time out. Queens brought on Jaconelli and Lyle but despite some late pressure Queens never looked like getting back into the game. Losing Scott obviously unsettled Queens and Thomson was sadly missed. However there can be no excuses as Clyde had several players missing also. Queens must now regroup and pick themselves up to face St Mirren next week who will be without O'Neill who was given a red card today and will miss the match. This defeat quite frankly did not surprise me as the writing was on the wall after last weeks dodgy display against Ayr. We have had a nice few weeks on top and it's Falkirk's turn to endure the pressure at the top. This is the business part of the season coming up with the niggling injuries and heavy grounds a deciding factor. Queens however are still in touch with the leaders and will do well to stay there come Christmas.
