Bobby Donnelly's late strike secured a share of the spoils for Airdrie at Excelsior Stadium.

Queen of the South broke the deadlock after 70 minutes when Stuart Kean headed Robert Harris's free-kick beyond the reach of Stephen Robertson.

Donnelly restored parity with nine minutes remaining when he pounced to score after Tom Nolan's corner caused chaos in the box.

Both sides pressed but failed to find a winning goal before the final whistle.

Said a disappointed Gordon Chisholm after the game, "A draw was about a fair result but at the end I was glad to hear that full-time whistle. We had a bad first half and were second to every ball. I was really angry at half-time and they all got a 'good kick up the backside'. We were very poor collectively!

"After the interval they showed more enthusiasm and picked their game up a bit. Stewart Kean worked hard when he came on and I was glad to see him grab that goal which will help boost his confidence level.

"However, we went and conceded an equaliser and then panic seemed to set in. We struggled to hold on and the game fizzled out to a 1-1 draw which was about as much as we deserved."

Queens Mad Man of the Match - Gerry McLaughlan - Hardly put a foot wrong and very little got past him.
