QUEENS SLIDE TO THIRD DEFEAT IN A ROW

Wood diverted Bowey shot.
Queens crashed to their third defeat in a row and slip to 6th place in the league. Queens started off brightly and on 5 minutes a Bowey mishit volley was deflected off Wood to put the Doonhamers 1-0 up. Although Inverness had the bulk of the play Queens were hitting brilliantly on the break and could have been 3-0 at one stage with Bowey being the main sinner. Inverness were having difficulty breaking down the Queens defence and Robertson in the away goal had very little to do.

Half-Time Inverness 0 Queens 1

What a difference in the second half as Caley came out in a determined mood looking for goals. Hislop equalised for Inverness when he volleyed past Roberston 0n 49 minutes and with Queens reeling Mc Caffrey gave Inverness the lead on 55 minutes after the Queens keeper dropped the ball. Lyle had a chance to get Queens back into the game but put his shot into the side-net. Aitken prevented a certain goal before Hislop 76 minutes and Wilson on 85 minutes wrapped up an emphatic win for the Highlanders. Queens must be devastated after yet another reverse after having taken the lead. Where do we go from here ? Well unless JC can come up with some solution we are in free fall to the relegation zone. Luckily we have a few points in the bag but with several tough games coming up it's going to be grim festive season. There is no doubt that the loss of Scott has been a contributing factor in our recent demise and next weeks game with Brechin takes on a new dimension. Once again a splendid turnout by our fans at Inverness but it must have been a long long journey back to Doonhamerland. It's the Queens AGM on Tuesday evening where I suspect there will be a subdued atmosphere for more reasons than one !
