                                       NELLY OFF TARGET AGAIN

Queens really should have had this game won in the first half in which they dominated but in the end had to hang on as Clyde came back at them to deservedly take a share of the points. With McColligan and Bowey buzzing Queens started off brightly and soon had the Clyde rearguard under heavy pressure. The Bully Wee were knocking the ball around nicely but Queens were more direct and were creating the better chances. McAlpine was enjoying himself on the left and it was no surprise when he put Queens ahead after 16 minutes. Lyle slung over a deep cross and wee Joe stole in at the back post to send a looping header beyond the Clyde keeper. Queens stormed forward for the vital second goal but as we have seen so many times this season it did not come. O'Neill had a powerful header saved and Weatherson missed a good chance when clean through. It was very frustrating for the home fans as Queens really should have gone in at the interval at least three goals to the good. Once again the referee was upsetting the home support as he seemed to be a bit too lenient on some of the heavy tackling by the Bully Wee. Weatherson in particular seemed to be subjected to some rough treatment.

Half-Time Queens 1 Clyde 0

Clyde came out of the blocks full of running at the start of the second half as Queens seemed content in sitting back to protect their lead. Queens defence with Thomson and Allan outstanding were standing firm however and Clyde for all their domiance created very little in front of goal. Weatherson had another great chance to kill Clyde off but somehow his close range effort drifted past the post. Queens seemed to have weathered the storm until the 70th minute when Shields tried a shot frrom just outside the box. Scott was well beaten but the ball rebounded from the bar straight into the path of Hagen who nodded the ball past the stranded Queens keeper. It was a most unfortunate goal to loose but on the balance of play the Blly Wee fully deserved their equaliser. To their credit Queens came back at Clyde and a terrific shot from O'Neill seemed to be handled on the edge of the box by a Clyde defender. There was a strong appeal from O'Neill but the referee was not impressed and waved play on. There were a further couple of anxious moments for both sides but at the end of the day both sides were happy with a draw although Queens will rue those first half misses. Results elsewhere mean that Queens are slowly being sucked into a relegation dogfight and they really must start finding net on a regular basis from now on in or we just wont survive. Thomson,Anderson and Allen were immense at the back but up front once again we were found wanting. After a good first half our midfield seemed to fall out of the game and Clyde finished the fitter looking team which is probably due to full-time training. If we are to gain anything on Saturday against Falkirk we must somehow put our chances away because at this level you get no second chances.

WE NEED A BLOODY STRIKER JOE.
