QUEENS LOGO 2Darren Smith scored one and made another to keep Stenhousemuir's play-off hopes alive with victory over Second Division champions Queen of the South.

Defeat, only their second in the league this season, ended Queens 19-game unbeaten run.

Stenny's victory hauls the home side to within five points of fourth-top Forfar Athletic with three games remaining.

The hosts broke the deadlock in the 28th minute when striker Smith tried his luck from the edge of the area and found the bottom corner of Lee Robinson's goal.

But Queens equalised on the brink of half-time when defender Christopher Mitchell's free-kick flew into the back of the net from the edge of the area.

Stenhousemuir started the second-half brightly and found themselves in front once more in the 72nd minute.

Sean Dickson headed home from 10 yards after good work from Smith and the Warriors held on to win.
