WILLIE GIBSON BACK FROM INJURY
A Don Cowie goal 30 seconds into the second half was enough to give Ross County their first home league victory of the season. County throughly deserved their victory after dominating most of the match, and they should have been out of sight by half -time after squandering a number of chances.

County made a brisk start and Charlie Adam had the first chance when he latched on to a Gary McSwegan cut-back, but blasted the ball wide of the upright.

The home side were well on top in the early stages, and Cowie was not far away with a 20-yard drive. Then Queens keeper Colin Scott made a superb save to deny Sean Higgins.

Queens had to wait until the 28th minute to get their first shot on goal when Brian McLaughlin fired wide of Stuart Garden's left-hand post.

The Doonhamers could have taken the lead a couple of minutes before the break , but McLaughlin drove the ball wide.

County made the best possible start to the second half when Adam played the ball in from the left and Cowie found the top corner with a well-placed shot.

Queens responded by pushing more players forward but rarely threatened the County goal.

County were not as much off an attacking force in the second period. Queens almost equalised when substitute Emilio Jaconelli tested Stuart Garden with a long-range effort that the County keeper did well to tip over the bar.
