Stalemate At Dingwall

Ross County failed to turn relentless pressure into a badly-needed three points after hounding their ALBA Challenge Cup final opponents for most of the 90 minutes.

Trialist Colin McMenamin struck for Queens against the run of play in the first period, before Iain Vigurs' brilliant finish rescued a point for the Highlanders.

The Scottish Cup finalists, though, have now gone five league games without a win.

With the home defence caught out of position, Allan Johnston's through-ball found the gap and McMenamin glided past County goalkeeper Michael McGovern to clip home with ease.

County worked hard to find a way back and cranked up the pressure. Their reward came after 80 minutes.

Vigurs showed great control and vision outside the box to lift a powerful right-foot shot into the top of net off David Hutton's despairing touch.

On the break, Queens almost won it two minutes from time when Willie McLaren's clever flick sent Rocco Quinn in on goal but he missed by a whisker

Queens were on the backfoot for most of the match and did well to hold on for a point. Lack of firepower up front was was very much in evidence and things will not improve unless McMenamin can be persuaded to sign.

Queens Man of the Match - Craig Reid - Another fighting performance from the stalwart defender.
