THE DREAM LIVES ON AS QUEENS DUMP RAITH

The dream lives on with Queens narrow win over Raith Rovers at Kirkcaldy and they remain top of the pile for another week. Queens started of well against the struggling Raith outfit and should have been at least one goal up but both Burke and Bowey failed to find the net although the eccentric Gonzalez must take great credit with two wonderful saves. The game developed into a rather dour struggle with both sides having trouble coming to grips with the cold wind, however the home side were having plebnty of possession but had very little idea on how to crack the Dumfries defence with Reid again outstanding. As Queens trooped off at half-time they must have been regretting those early missed chances.

Half-Time 0-0

Raith stepped up the pace and had Queens under a lot of pressure however it was that man Burke who opened the scoring on the 58th minute taking advantage of a slip by Brittain. The travelling support of around 350 went into raptures and the bagpipe boy was about out of wind keeping up. Raith began to dominate but created very few chances apart from Patino who headed straight at Scott. Towards the end of this gruelling encounter Queens had a number of chances to really rub it in but as the referee blew the final whistle everyone at the away end was happy with a 1-0 victory. Queens just about shaded it and if they had taken their chances they would have won by a bigger margin. Our magnificent support with the bagpipe boy and drummer played their part and are always worth a goal of a start. Once again this resilent Queens team gave their manager 100% and as long as they continue to do this I will be happy. The Band Wagon rolls on to Palmy next Sunday when we face an Ayr side who today were at the wrong end of a thrashing from Inverness. These are interesting days indeed for all Queens fans.
