CUP FEVER HITS DUMFRIES

There were long queues at Palmerston this morning as tickets for the quarter final cup tie with Hibernians went on sale to the general public. Sales were brisk and there were unconfirmed reports that the West Stand is almost sold out and the Portland Road end starting to sell well. Some fans had to queue for well over an hour to get their allocation of one ticket with many women in the queue obviously picking up a ticket for their menfolk. Heavy sales were also reported over the phone lines which incidently were manned by volunteers. It looks like it will be a bumper crowd a week on Saturday and the famous old ground should be jumping.
