Queens recored an emphatic victory over the locals in this friendly played at St Mary's Park,Kirkcudbright to mark 150 years of football in this delightful area of the Stewartry in Galloway. The game kicked off on a bright but chilly evening in front of a sizeable crowd many of home had travelled down from Dumfries.
Queens fielded a strong eleven which included several first team regulars including skipper Bowey who looked to have recovered from his operation. Thomson partenered Wood at the back with new signing McNiven leading the front line with a new slim-line Jaconelli. The locals made a fight of it during the first half hour but soon fitness began to tell and after the impressive Robertson put Queens ahead on 32 minutes the goals began to flow at regular intervals as the shots rained in on the unfortunate Saints goalkeeper. Bowey was screaming at his men to charge forward with McNiven and Jaconelli causing havoc amongst the home defence. Payne added number two on 33 minutes and before half-time the burly Mc Niven added two more on the 38 and 46 minutes. As the teams came off at half-time it was increasingly obvious that the home team were slightly out of their depth and Queens were cruising it.

Queens took the field with some new faces in the shape of Bagan,McLaughlan and Burns along with some unfamiliar faces. The changes made no difference to the game as Queens continued to dominate with Saints offering only token resiatance. Queens went five up on 51 minutes with a rare headed goal from the delighted Thomson. The goal was greeted by a loud horn from somewhere in the crowd. Brian McLaughlan looked in the mood and started to carve open the Saints goal almost at will and it was no surprise when one of the trialists put Queens 6-0 up. The outclassed home oppostion caved in during the final minutes of the game with goals from Mc Laughlan,Bagan and a trialist from the penalty spot completing the rout.
