QUEENS MAY BE DUE A WINDFALL AS NEW TESCO SUPERSTORE OPENS

Tesco opened their massive new Superstore in Dumfries on Monday thus making their previous site at Palmerston redundant. The site at Palmy was leased to William Low several years ago on an almost 100 year lease for somewhere in the region of £50,000 per year rent. Tesco took over the lease when they bought out Low and a subsidary leasing company now hold the lease. Speculation is mounting as to whether Tesco still require the lease or give it up. If the latter is the case then Queens may be due a tidy sum and of course will still own the site. Rumours are circulating that a deal has already been struck but there is no word from Palmy yet. Tesco I believe could still hold on to the lease and perhaps sub-let. Either way most Queens fans will be watching the situation closely in the next few weeks.
