Lyle celebrates in last seasons triumph.
The new season is with us at last and what better way to start things off than a classic encounter with our old rivals Stranraer. The Cleyholers after being relegated to Division 3 have re-grouped under new manager Neill Watt and will be determined to turf us out of the Cup. Neill has served his trade in the Junior Leagues and with his contacts has brought in several new faces to Stair Park. As their pre-season results show they will be no pushover and Queens will be advised to give them every respect. Queens have not really shown much in the friendlies but I'm sure JC will have the team up for it tomorrow and will be feilding a strong eleven. Talbot,Coates and Jaconelli perhaps will not feature due to injury but there is enough talent available to see off the Cleyholers but it may be close. Our defence superbly organised by Thomson looks sound and there is plenty of dig in midfield with Bowey showing the way but the worry is where are the goals going to come from. There will be a heavy responcibility on O'Connor,Lyle and Burke to get amongst the goals. Stair Park is a tight little ground and many a fancied team have come to grief. Queens must concentrate in playing football and refuse to be intimidated by the Cleyholers who will try and knock Queens off their stride. I expect a narrow win for Queens which will send the expected large Doonhamer support home happy.
Bowser's goin tae get ye !
